Do you have a furry little diva on your hands? Cats may be small, but many of them don’t seem to realize that. In fact, Fluffy can actually be a bit of a brat at times! Read on as a local London, ON vet discusses cattitude.

Pet Peeves

Just like people, kitties have some specific likes and dislikes. On Fluffy’s thumbs-up list, you’ll find things like tuna, sunbeams, boxes, and catnip. On the thumbs-down list, you may find loud noises, baths, dogs, nap interruptions, and incorrect attention. Strange cats also often get kitties going. Your sweet little pet may morph into a hissing ball of rage at the mere sight of another feline walking through her yard!

Cats are also quite particular about getting petted. Too much attention, too little attention, and the wrong type of attention are all serious transgressions in Fluffy’s book.

Meow Of Rage

Cats don’t always just bite or scratch when they are angry with their humans. Some kitties just give their owners an earful! Fluffy may meow at you to reprimand you for being late with her dinner, for almost stepping on her, or even just for ignoring her. If your feline overlord is extremely mad, she may growl or hiss. However, if she’s just annoyed, you may just get a rather adorable little expression of kitty rage.

Mood Swings

One thing we know about cats is the fact that these little furballs can be quite fickle, and sometimes change gears very quickly, and without warning. Fluffy may be purring and content one minute, and suddenly bite and scratch you, only to nonchalantly start licking your hand a moment later. That’s just purr for the course with these guys!

Play Attacking

Kitties may be small and cute, but they are also fierce predators by nature. Your cuddly little buddy is more or less hardwired to want to pounce on things. She may also think it’s great fun to practice on you. Nip this bad habit in the bud. If Fluffy bites or scratches, say ‘No’ in a firm tone. You can also blow in her face, clap your hands, or squirt her with water. Then, ignore your feisty pet for a while. She’ll get the hint eventually!
